Play Press supports local artists and activists in realizing their print related projects.
Project topics at Play Press have included: prisoners rights, marginalized voices in the Tenderloin, a mail art correspondence between the Bay Area and Mexico City, Sex education and Remembrance of the 1968 Poor People's Campaign.
I started Play Press out of my studio in West Oakland in 2016 after being given a broken and very old Ricoh (risograph). After fixing it I started printing my own work and began inviting friends to print. I now publish artists works and distribute them at stores and book fairs.
I'm also available for printing on commission. Whether it's a book or print or sticker I help from start to finish. From the early concept to design and layout to printing and distribution. Previous clients include: SomArts, California College of the Arts, and Nook Gallery.
