Dang!
Play Press is so pleased to announce the release of: "Approximations + - " This project brings together 6 months of collaboration between Carolina Magis Weinberg and Raphael Villet - each working remotely in Mexico City and Oakland. It also draws participation from 20 artists across the Bay Area and Mexico. The release party will culminate as a performance, exhibition and participatory experience. Approximations -+ explores the relationship between everyday moments and the metaphor of CENTER. It invites the viewer to consider the parameters of a center as a way to think about and relate to space, time and feelings. How do we live? Following much of Carolina's art practice, Approximations -+ plays with the historical, symbolic and literal role of the physical spaces and objects in our lives. Approximations -+ is a book, a map, and a group zine: all of which point inward and outward. Towards a center and at the viewer. Approximations -+ is also the 2nd project of the Play House Print Series. Carolina Magis Weinberg was chosen by Lukaza Branfman-Verissimo: the first artist of the series. Upon completion of this project, Carolina will select the next person for Play Press to work with. And so on. Aeromoto – Biblioteca Pública exists as public lending library of printed art objects in Mexico City. We are so honored release this project at such a radically accessible forward thinking space!

Approximations -+ is a book, a map, and a group zine: all of which point inward and outward. Towards a center and at the viewer. Approximations -+ is a book about it’s own center, and it’s pages depict the journey towards that center. It also explores our relationship to everyday moments through the metaphor of CENTER, inviting viewers to consider the parameters of a center as a way to think about and relate to space, time and feelings.
